STOURPORT Hockey Club's stars of the future are counting down the days to their respective boys and girls finals as they bid to shine on the national stage.

The girls under-15s are gearing up for a clash with Essex-based Dunmow on Saturday May 14 after beating Kingston-upon-Hull 2-1 at home in the semi-final.

Hannah Shaw got them going on 15 minutes when she swept in the opening goal which her team-mates defended for dear life. Ellie Trow squeezed in the second goal to give more of a cushion but when Hull pulled a goalback, Stourport had to rely on some outstanding saves from goalkeeperIsabel Rosie, while their opponents also had an equaliser controversially disallowed.

The under-15s boys booked their place in the final with a nail-biting penalty stroke shootout success over South Cheshire. With the full time scores level at 4-4, Stourport held their nerve to win 5-4 on penalty strokes.

Ben Harris bagged a brace while Ben Carless and captain Dan Hurley also scored as they came from 3-1 down to 4-4.

Hurley and stand-in keeper James Eeves (CHECK) were the heroes of the penalty strokes shootout. Storport boys travel to Bowden, to play Bromley in the final on May 14.
