A DELUGE of objections are expected to be sent to Chaddesley Corbett Parish Council after its blueprint for the next decade was due to be presented to villagers yesterday.

Almost 90 members of the newly-formed Friends of the Village Association are expected to oppose the draft parish plan, which includes a need for affordable homes.

Association chairman, David Hislop, said his members would be "challenging the need for affordable homes" in the village.

The association was formed following the submission of a planning application to Wyre Forest District Council for 10 affordable homes to be built on allotments off Hemming Way.

Mr Hislop said the association believed the parish council was "putting the cart before the horse" in supporting the application before the parish plan had been finalised and that a needs survey of villagers had been misleading.

A presentation of the plan was due to be shown to villagers yesterday and Mr Hislop said objectors were being asked to write to the parish council.

He added the proposed development would add to congestion within a conservation area and that the two and three-bedroom houses would not be starter homes.

Fifty-five people attended the association's meeting last week, at which opposition to the draft parish plan was discussed.

"This issue has split the village," said Mr Hislop. "It's normally a very happy place but this has caused very bad feeling."

He added that the parochial church council was opposed to the Church of England selling the allotment site, which does contain unused plots, and suggested that the current village school site could be used for housing when the school relocates.

Parish Council chairman, Charles Dodge was unavailable for comment.
