A TALENTED Redditch mum is enjoying her first taste of fame after starring in a new Bollywood movie.

Jinder Mahal fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a Bollywood star by winning a part in Chicken Tikka Masala, which was released in cinemas across the country on Friday.

The feature-length comedy also stars Chris Bisson, best known for his roles in Coronation Street and box office smash East is East.

It tells the story of the Chopra family, who are busily preparing for the wedding of son Jimi, played by Bisson, to the very respectable Simran (Mrs Mahal). But Jimi is secretly in love with Jack and doesn't want to marry Simran but is frightened to tell his family.

Mrs Mahal (left), who also owns the successful fashion chain Ocean Drive, got her big break in Bollywood after taking some acting lessons and signing to an agent.

"I have always wanted to act and decided that if I didn't do something now, it would be too late," said the mum of three.

She said working on Chicken Tikka Masala was "fantastic" and the other actors made her feel very welcome during the four-week shoot.

"They never made me feel as if I wasn't as good as them," added Mrs Mahal.

The talented Callow Hill woman said she is also interested in film production and is currently working on writing a script.
