MANAGER Kevin Blaber has stunned Droitwich Spa FC by announcing he will be stepping down at the end of the season.

Blaber is set to end his four-year stay at the club after Droitwich take on Archdale 73 in the Worcester Nursing Cup Final on May 7.

Blaber blamed fatigue for his decision to quit the club at the end of the season.

He said: "I'm just had the feeling that I've done my time here and need to move on.

"I've enjoyed myself and hopefully I've left the club in better condition than when I joined."

The news will come as a surprise to many as he was guiding the club to its most successful season in years.

Before Monday's draw with Feckenham, Droitwich had been chasing automatic promotion from the Midland Combination Division Two.

Spa have also reached the Worcestershire Junior Cup final, which they lost to Bewdley.

Blaber's assistant manager, Tom Goss, is thought to be one of the candidates to replace Blaber.
