CHRIS Horsman will find out later today whether he is fit to take on Northampton.

Worcester Warriors' ultra-consistent tighthead will see a specialist over his neck problem which has forced him out of the last two Premiership games.

Both clubs arrive at Sixways on Saturday knowing that victory will secure their Zurich Premiership status next season as the battle to avoid the drop stretches until the final day of the campaign.

Horsman has been a key figure in Worcester's revival in the second-half of the season and the Warriors are keen to involve the former Celtic Warrior.

Horsman has been forced to rest because of the injury in the hope that he would be fit to tackle the Saints. And, after today's meeting, the prop will know whether he can play a part in the final-day showdown.

"Chris will see the specialist today and we'll know a lot more after that," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain. "We'll need to talk with Chris and take on board the medical advice before we make a decision.

Matches

"However, Neil Lyman has performed well in our last two Premiership matches and he should be fit for Saturday.

"All the players know that the outcome of the match will be significant. But all we can do is prepare for the match like we do any other game.

"We've performed well in our last two games and we know if we can perform to that standard against Northampton, then we'll win the match."

Brain watched a much-changed Worcester side secure their place in the final of the European Shield on Friday night with a 30-30 draw against Leeds. And he admits that the performance of a number of players at Headingley might nudge him on Saturday's selection.

"We'll have to see but a number of players showed their hunger," added Brain.

"We're happy to be through to a final. We've always said the competition is not a priority but it'll be a good day out for the supporters and getting through to a final is never a bad thing."
