PAT Sanderson is refusing to get carried away by Worcester's Premiership position.

The Warriors went into today's clash with Saracens knowing victory would almost cement their place in the top flight if Leeds go down to Leicester tomorrow.

However, the England sevens star is taking nothing for granted, especially after Worcester's recent defeat at Bath.

"We were all desperately disappointed at Bath because we performed so badly," said Sanderson.

"Our focus this week has been to put things right and that's all we've been concentrating on. People have been saying, for a few weeks now, that we've done well but the truth is that we haven't achieved anything yet.

"The job isn't done because we could still go down. Everyone at Worcester is well aware that there is a lot more hard work yet so nobody is patting anyone on the back. We can still fall flat on our faces pretty quickly if we think we're safe.

"What we've done so far isn't bad but we've still got the last mile of the marathon to go.

"The dream hasn't been realised yet and I'm not just saying that because it's the right thing to say. Our reality is that we need to keep on winning."

Sanderson only returned to Sixways this week after an exhausting World Cup sevens campaign in Hong Kong.

The flanker helped England to the semi-finals before agonisingly going out to Fiji in extra-time. It was particularly galling for the national side after coming back from 19-7 down to level things up.

And if former Worcester man Ben Gollings had converted Simon Amor's try, England would have won their way through to the final against New Zealand.

"Eight games in three days was a bit of a killer," added Sanderson.

"We were a bit disappointed to lose in the manner we did. Mentally, you can accept it better if you lose by 30 points but to come so close was difficult.

"It would have been nice for Ben if he'd have got that conversion because he's made a fresh start in Australia and he's really concentrating on sevens now."
