THE music of critically-acclaimed singer Frank Zappa will come to life in Worcester as Jimmy Carl Black and the Muffin Men roll into the city.
The musicians will be playing a selection of Zappa's best-known songs together with some of their own arrangements and a few Captain Beefheart numbers thrown in for good measure.
The Muffin Men were originally formed in 1990 to play a one-off show to celebrate Zappa's 50th birthday, but have gone on to play more than 400 shows in 10 countries.
Jimmy Carl Black was the original drummer and vocalist with The Mothers of Invention and stars as the special guest for this show at Worcester's Huntingdon Hall.
He had played drums with Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band and recorded countless albums around the States and Europe. Audiences should prepare themselves for a night of everything from complex rock to jazz stylings, boogie blues to avant garde, chamber music to silly doo-wop. The concert takes place on Wednesday, March 30, at 8pm and tickets are £12.50, available in advance by telephoning on 01905 611427.
