A LONG-awaited bus shelter in Malvern's Brookfarm Drive could finally be put in place if town chiefs give the go-ahead this spring.
Malvern Town Council's planning and transportation committee, under the previous administration, put forward the recommendation for a new shelter back in August 2002.
In followed a request earlier that year from a resident and council subsequently approved the proposal following a passenger survey in March 2003.
However, due to an oversight, the shelter was never installed. Now the matter came back before the council's finance and administration committee at a meeting this week.
Councillors agreed to consider an overspend on the 2005/06 budget of £3,000 against the project.
The reason for the overspend is that the budget allocated for bus shelters in 2005/06 is £1,500 for maintenance only. The matter is now set to come before the full council for final approval in April.
