A TOTAL of 400 pupils from Hanley Castle High School pupils took part in the annual Hanley Run on Wednesday.
A traditional Easter activity dating from the 1950s, the run features eight races covering a route of 2.5 miles around the local countryside.
Medals are awarded to the winning classes.
Originally a whole school activity, it is now run only by pupils in years 7, 8 and 9.
Headteacher Rob Haring said: "The Hanley Run is a great tradition for the school which always takes place on the last day of term before the Easter holidays.
"We actively encourage our young people to embrace all forms of healthy exercise and many of our older, ex-pupils also take part in the run."
