A GO-GETTING grandad's high-flying antics are on course to raise more than £4,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice.

Bob Eaton successfully completed a tandem parachute jump from 15,000ft in Shropshire on Saturday, watched by family and friends.

The 66-year-old retired civil engineer from Bewdley, who has already raised around £14,500 for the children's charity in memory of his youngest son Dave who was killed in a motorbike accident in 1999, said it was a great experience.

"Someone said I'm brave to have done it," he told the Worcester News.

"But the brave people are the families and their kids who are life-limited and who face it with courage and strength.

"They need support so give to Acorns."

n To celebrate the opening of the new Acorns hospice in Worcester, we are publishing a unique 16-page Acorns supplement on Wednesday, March 30.
