A TEN-year strategy to make Worcester a top tourist destination has been approved by the city council.
The plans include broadening the city's night-time attractions, developing a riverside promenade from the Cathedral to Sabrina footbridge and enhancing Diglis basin.
A heritage trail will also be created, while the Cornmarket will be turned into a public square rather than a car park.
"People may say this strategy is long overdue and that may be so but it is good to have reached this conclusion," said city council leader, Councillor Stephen Inman.
Discussions will now continue over the make-up of the groups which will oversee the strategy, including whether a private company should be formed.
