LEDBURY swimmers made their presence felt at the second block of the Worcester County Championships held over the weekend at Wolverhampton, winning a grand total of 63 awards.

Eleven-year-old George Bennion showed great form and had a tremendous weekend, winning three gold medals in the 200m butterfly, 200m individual medley and the 50m breaststroke and bronze medals in the 100m freestyle and breaststroke events.

Caitlin Clark, swimming in her first County Championships as a nine-year-old, continued her winning streak from the first block with winning swims in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events. She also set a new county record in the longer swim to bring her gold medal count to a very impressive five. She also won a silver medal in the backstroke and a bronze in the IM.

Rhys Davey, swimming in the 13 years age group increased his championship gold medals to an amazing nine with an impressive 200m individual medley swim, taking almost six seconds off his previous best time. He also won bronze medals in the 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and the 50m freestyle all in new improved times.

James Middleton boosted his gold medal collection to four, with a two-second best time in the 100m freestyle in the 11-year-old category but had to settle for silver medals in the 400m f/s, 200m IM, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Ten-year-old George Parsons brought LADASC's gold medal count to 10 with superb racing in both the four lengths and two lengths breaststroke, in both cases pipping team mate Dave Middleton to the touch. David turned the tables in the 400m freestyle taking the silver medal with George winning the bronze.

Alice Parsons was the runner up in the 10 years 100m breaststroke with her sister Rose winning the bronze medal in the 50m event.

Emma Fitzgerald was third in the 11-year-old 100m breaststroke.

LADASC were well represented in one of the most gruelling races, the eight lengths butterfly, in the 10 years age group Joe Bloxsome was the silver medallist with Chris Leitch winning the bronze medal and Patty Holloway also winning the bronze in the girls' event. Suffering with a heavy cold, 13-year-old Hannah Bloxsome knew she was going to find this tougher than usual but was determined to give it her best and, despite not reaching her best time, was a worthy winner of the silver medal.

Thomas Stokes had five personal best times, netting four silver and one bronze medal, but more importantly he achieved his Midland District qualifying times in the 400m and 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and the 200m IM.
