WORCESTER City chairman Dave Boddy has urged supporters to turn out in numbers again for the resurgent club's remaining three home games of the campaign.

Saturday's Nationwide North win over derby rivals Redditch United pulled in a gate of 1,087, which was City's third four-figure crowd at St George's Lane this season.

A hard-fought 2-1 victory, achieved with second-half headers from club top goalscorer Adam Webster and George Clegg, is the latest chapter in Worcester's return to form since the arrival of player-manager Andy Preece.

City have now clocked up five wins in six and further success tomorrow against Moor Green will rocket Preece's troops to eighth in the table.

Boddy believes greater support will help push City to a high finish this season.

Worcester face Hucknall, Barrow and Droylsden at home during the league run-in and Boddy is setting his sights on a trio of highly charged games.

"There was a good atmosphere on Saturday and that is always the case when there's more than 1,000 on the gate," said Boddy.

"There was a derby feel about it and Saturday was possibly the most attractive game we've had in a while. The atmosphere obviously helps our players and it was a fine game to watch. It had a great tempo and I felt we thoroughly deserved to win.

"We are pleased about Saturday's crowd because we have generally been disappointed with attendances this season. But that's been down to a very indifferent season and there's not been much to shout about.

"We'll be looking for a similar sort of crowd on Bank Holiday Monday. Hucknall Town is a really attractive game, especially with them doing so well in the FA Trophy."

Boddy added: "It's a great turnaround by the team in the last few weeks. We can go eighth tomorrow, but it's where I believe we should have been in the first place. We've always said that with the team we've got, we should be nearer the play-offs."
