WORCESTERSHIRE residents have shown lots of love for St Richard's Hospice by purchasing £9,400 worth of Valentines raffle tickets.
Worcester Mayor Allah Ditta drew the winning ticket from thousands at the hospice in Rose Hill.
Prizes included dinner, bed & breakfast at the Abbey Hotel, Malvern, and also at The Granary Hotel, Kidderminster, a year's membership at Nicola's Gym worth £400 and a Valentine's Fragrance set from Beatties worth £200.
The winning ticket belonged to Mr Fisher of Kerswell Green, near Kempsey.
Fund-raising manager Tricia Cavell said: "We want to thank everyone for being so generous and buying our raffle tickets. We've also had great support from businesses donating prizes to help us raise this money - cash that will go to the hospice's work with over 1,400 patients and families each year."
Campaigners are urgently trying to raise the remaining £1.25m needed to build a new hospice near County Hall in Spetchley which will combine all the current services offered to patients with 15 specialist palliative care beds, which are desperately needed but not currently available in the area.
