POSITIVE Worcester Wolves are determined unbeaten giants London United will not tower above them on points in tonight's big clash.

New signing Matt Collins makes his debut at UCW (7pm) after completing his move from Coventry Crusaders.

And basket-happy point guard Collins, 29, promises to be a key player in Wolves' speedy game plan against one of the tallest sides in England Basketball League Division One.

After mid-table Wolves' thrilling 95-89 success at Kingston last weekend rediscovered winning ways, they would love the scalp of second-placed London to bolster the play-off push.

Director of basketball Mick Donovan said: "Matt's inclusion is going to give Josh Cooprider a new lease of life.

"They're both so quick on the ball. In fact, they'll be one of the quickest combinations in the league.

"And against London, one of the biggest sides in the league, we will have to play at a high tempo. If we play slow, they will climb all over us.

"They're the only unbeaten team in the league and are only second because they have played fewer games than leaders Sheffield.

"But on their website they've said Worcester can beat anyone on their day so they are quite worried about us."

A major blow for Wolves is the likely loss of homegrown Colin Chiverton with a torn hamstring causing him to miss training last night and Wednesday's university game.

Donovan admitted: "That will hurt us because he has really been our most consistent player this season.

"The biggest thing for us now is to try and pick up as many wins as we can to secure a good play-off spot. The higher we finish, the better draw we get.

"We still have realistic ambitions of doing well in the play-offs. We did get in a bit of a rut earlier in the season and there was some self-doubt so that's why we must have a positive attitude.

"It would have been a major setback to lose at Kingston. Matt watched that game and will definitely play a major part today."

And Donovan praised the strong, vocal home support, adding there will be some tickets available on the door for the game tonight.

In October, Wolves lost 83-78 at London who have been beaten by Division One opposition this season but only in the National Cup against Worthing.

Wolves' women have a big West Midlands Premier game at home to Birmingham Force at UCW tomorrow (2.30pm).
