Evesham Utd Ladies 3,
Redditch Utd 0
A GAME switched to Chu-rch Lench saw Evesham produce an excellent all-round performance as they emulated the previous day's result of their male counterparts to record a weekend double over their county rivals.
An uneventful opening period produced only one notable event when goalkeeper Sam Jones produced a fine save.
Nicky Bond, whose running from midfield was caused the Redditch defence a problem for most of the game, sent in a superb cross on the half-hour but goalkeeper Becky New-man made a fine save.
A minute later Tori Southern ran on to a goal kick but her shot lacked power and was easily collected by Newman.
The Robins almost took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Charlene McLoughlin got a foot to Charlotte Ben-son-Wilson's corner kick only for the ball to flash past a post.
Evesham upped the tempo after the break and McLou-ghlin quickly had the ball in the net but the Redditch linesman flagged for a foul on Newman. This decision seemed to galvanise the home side who went on to produce probably their best performance of the season.
With Redditch unable to breach a solid Evesham back line, goalkeeper Jones was almost redundant as she watched her colleagues continually push forward.
Southern flashed a shot wide but, with the hosts dominating, it was only a matter of time before a goal arrived.
Benson-Wilson's free-kick from 25 yards came back off the bar only for Lisa Tustin to head the rebound wide.
Th breakthrough finally came when Tustin ran on to a thro-ugh ball and, although New-man parried the first effort, she was helpless to prevent the striker knocking in the rebound.
Evesham increased their lead 11 minutes from time when Tustin played a brilliant ball through the defence for Southern to fire a great shot past Newman.
Two minutes from time the scoring was complete when Benson-Wilson's corner was met by McLoughlin who kno-cked the ball down for Sou-thern to touch home.
The ladies play the second of three successive home games on Sunday when they entertain Bredon (2pm).
