SCOTT Barrow is hoping to bring some of St Hel-ens' success to Worcester this season after his move from Merseyside.

The 20-year-old turned his back on League to make the Sixways switch and is hoping some of the Saints magic rubs off on his new club.

Barrow was out of contract after Saints' grand final win over Wigan last month and despite interest from a number of clubs including Castleford Tigers, he plumped for Worcester.

He said: "I had a number of offers including Castleford and Worcester but I went on holiday for a week and when I came back Castleford had pulled out of a deal. I came to Worcester about three years ago at a charity sportsman's dinner where we were raising funds for Worcestershire Saints and I remembered what a fantastic set-up there was.

"I wanted to come back into rugby union and Worcester seemed the ideal move for me. Switching codes is not a massive problem, it is a bit quicker now than I remember but that's OK."

However, Barrow admitted leaving his home-town club was a wrench especially after Saints had clinched the Super-League title.

He said: "They didn't have the funds to keep me on and my contract was up. I was gutted at leaving because at the time we'd just won the championship and everyone was on a high.

"However, you just have to face up to things and move on and it was my time to go."

The centre was hoping to make his first start in a Worcester shirt on Tuesday only to see the Warriors game called off at the last moment. He now hopes to get some action in an under-21 match today against Leicester.

"I just want to concentrate on getting into the team now which is not going to be easy because they're winning every game!," he added.
