A NIGHT of music, jokes and lots of innuendo - the Freddie Starr show was warmly received by its Kidderminster audience.

Funny man Freddie received a standing ovation at the end of his hour-long performance after he impressed with his powerful voice and hilarious antics.

He sang hits such as Memories, Vincent (Starry, Starry, Night), and all-time children's favourite Hickory Dickory Dock.

His spoof of game show Mastermind proved a success as he was given rapturous applause after the quickfire joke round.

Supporting comedian Mike Lancaster has to be commended for the way he handled hecklers, with his abrasive "take no prisoners" character assassinations.

His campness and audience interaction got the evening off to a good start.

And the night would not have been complete without the Freddie Starr Band. The five-piece group joined in the gags and played some foot-tapping hits which also had the audience clapping along.

There was never a dull moment at this side-splitting show - and, of course, earlier in the day Freddie also won the hearts of the rest of Kidderminster by switching on the town's Christmas lights. MC
