PLAYER-of-the-season Danny Williams is looking increasingly likely to leave Aggborough in the summer.

Speculation has been rife about Kidderminster Harriers' out-of-contract midfield general since the campaign ended earlier this month.

The 23-year-old stoked up the fire when Harriers boss Ian Britton was unable to get in contact with him to discuss a new deal.

Britton, who instead submitted a written offer, will seek compensation through a tribunal under the Bosman ruling if Williams does leave, as he is still under 24.

That is set to be the case as the former Wrexham and Liverpool player is tipped to complete a move to Division Two new boys Hartlepool United.

Williams, voted player of the season by supporters and the Shuttle/Times & News, is also believed to be interesting Harriers' Division Three rivals Hull City and higher-ranked Brighton.

But Hartlepool's release of their own midfield holding player, Tommy Widdrington, means they are preparing for a new addition in that position.

Britton, currently on a family holiday, is yet to confirm influential skipper Sean Flynn's commitment to a one-year contract but he is expected to sign.

Harriers fans are rallying to support the cash-strapped side with season ticket sales better than last summer so far.

The impressive plans for the east stand at Aggborough are also catching the public's imagination as Kidderminster prepare for their fourth season in the Football League.

A club spokesman said: "Sales are going very well and there is another week left to make the most of the reduced offer we are doing.

"We are ahead of last season's sales and seats for the new stand are proving very popular."

Long-serving player Adie Smith is due to have a clean-out operation on his knee this summer.

But winger Sam Shilton, who struggled with a sore knee in the latter stages of the season, is likely to rest the problem.

Meanwhile, Harriers supporters are being asked to suggest and then vote for a matchday theme tune for Britton's men through the club website.

They want to introduce a new song for the players to run out to before kick-off and another tune to celebrate goals.
