MIDFIELDER Matt Gadsby held his hands up to admit he should have given Kidderminster Harriers the lead before Bristol Rovers' goal on Saturday.

But it was a rare chance for Harriers who failed to muster a shot on target in the 1-0 defeat to the side managed by Gadsby's former boss at Walsall, Ray Graydon.

Used in a midfield role for his first start, the versatile player was hardly celebrating on his 24th birthday after glancing a header wide when unmarked.

Gadsby said: "It was disappointing. We could have done more to defend the goal and we had a couple of chances, me particularly with a header.

"I was disappointed not to get that on target. I had more time than I needed and would have preferred to have been marked!

"When you get a lot of time, you tend to relax and that's what happened. It was a scrappy game with not many chances overall.

"With their goal, I can't remember who was marking their player but they've shown him across the goal and that's the only place he can hit the ball."
