While on the subject of police arrangements at Redditch, necessitated by the impeding retirement of Superintendent Jeffery and the formation of Redditch into a separate sessionary division with a superintendent together stationed there, we are pleased to hear that a petition has been prepared and has been forwarded to the chief constable asking that Inspector Hayes and Sergeant Holloway may be returned to Redditch.

The petition was sent by all the professional men at the town and the letting manufacturers and residents.

We do not for a moment suspect that the chief constable or the standing or joint committee or whoever it may be in whose hands these police arrangements lie, would be much moved by such a petition unless it happened to be in an already decided direction.

But we hope that it will at least be taken as showing the feeling of the town.
