MIDFIELD maestro Danny Williams has given Kidderminster Harriers a major boost by agreeing a new 12-month deal at Aggborough.

Player-of-the-season Williams signed on the dotted line yesterday, despite speculation linking him with bigger clubs.

The 23-year-old will be aiming to steer Harriers to promotion as boss Ian Britton works to improve his squad with new signings.

Williams increased talk of a possible move away by failing to get in touch with Britton who submitted a written contract offer.

But the former Liverpool and Wrexham player spoke with Harriers chiefs this week and indicated he was prepared to stay.

Hartlepool, Hull, Brighton and Conference side Chester were among the clubs linked with Williams.

Chairman Colin Youngjohns said: "Danny wants to play at a higher level but another 12 months with us certainly won't hurt his career and it will assist us. It's an everybody wins situation.

"We had some severe competition from higher and bigger clubs so we're very glad to prevail. Danny feels we have something going on here and he wants to be part of it.

"He's very much an integral part of what we are becoming, he's the spine of the team.

"I'm delighted and I'm sure all the other Harriers supporters will be."
