TWO people with Football League experience have been interviewed for the Bromsgrove Rovers manager's job.

The unnamed pair are two of four candidates already quizzed by chairman Tom Herbert for the position left vacant by George Rooney.

Mr Herbert hopes to unveil his choice by the end of the week and whoever steps into the hot seat will become Rovers' seventh manager in four years.

The chairman confirmed he had spoken to four potential managers, two with Football League experience, and that he wants someone in place to start close season transfer dealings.

One possibility for the job is former England international Andy Sinton, brought in to help caretaker boss Steve Pope for the last six games of the season.

And Pope, whose wife Jane gave birth to a baby boy last week, has said he does not want the job.

Pope has also spoken of his disappointment at Rovers' failure to secure a top seven spot in the Dr Martens Western.

The centre back saw Rovers' final match of the season end with a last-minute 4-3 defeat at Mangotsfield United last Saturday.

But he believes the team were capable of a achieving a Premier place.

He said: "I am pleased with the response the players have given. I am disappointed we didn't make the top seven because we are more than good enough, but we haven't scored."

Rovers will finish ninth provided Ilkeston, in tenth place, take less than four points from their last two games.
