WORCESTERSHIRE made cautious progress when they resumed their first innings against Glamorgan in the Frizzell County Championship Division two match at overcast New Road today.

Anurag Singh, on 18, and Stephen Peters (9) began against pacemen Mike Kaspro-wicz and Darren Thomas.

The New Road openers had survived 10 overs last night to take the County to 29-0 in reply to the visitors 286.

Today, both batsmen again played and missed on a number of occasions before Singh lifted his total by steering Kasprowicz for two. Singh advanced at 23 before he survived an lbw appeal against Thomas.

Shortly afterwards Peters edged his way into double figures.

Yesterday, the County let Glamorgan wriggle off the hook despite Kabir Ali taking 5-80.

At one stage, after being put in, they were 2-2 when Andy Bichel ripped out David Hemp and Steve James with his second and fifth deliveries.

Glamorgan, however, produced a spirited fightback based around a 106-run stand for the seventh wicket between Jonathan Hughes and Robert Croft. Their double act spanned 27 overs and finally ended when Hughes went for 74. Glamorgan's recovery, however, had been signposted earlier by Michael Powell and Adrian Dale who put on 66 in 20 overs for the fourth wicket.

Dale became one of four Bichel victims while paceman Kabir included Powell (53) among his haul. Croft eventually departed for 59
