TWO of Worcester Rugby Club's biggest summer signings have been told they could both still play a part in the title decider at Rotherham next weekend.

Elton Moncrief and Winston Stanley arrived at Sixways with two of the most impressive CVs but, as Worcester go into today's clash with Henley, they both find themselves out of the first team.

Scrum-half Moncrief has endured a miserable season due mainly to injury and winger Stanley has been edged out of contention after going down with illness.

Moncrief will today be on the bench at Sixways but Stanley is once again outside of the squad. However, with time seemingly running out, head coach John Brain has given both hope ahead of the big one.

"I am aware of their qualities - they are both top class players," said Brain.

"Elton has found it difficult this season because of injury but I, and Andy Keast, know him very well and he did well on Monday night for the Warriors.

"I think Richard Smith holds the shirt at the moment but Elton and Ricky Pellow are very close behind him."

Stanley made the move from Welford Road after Leicester's Treble success last season. Much was expected of the Canadian but his place has now gone to former skipper Alistair Murdoch on the wing.

"Winston has come from an environment of winners," said Brain. "The players put a great deal of pressure on one another.

"He's come down a division and maybe that takes some adjusting to. He played on Monday night and didn't do anything wrong.

"We're well aware of what he can do but for this Saturday, we wanted to look at different options. Without a mid-week game it would seem difficult to break through for the Rotherham match but it's not impossible. Winston or Chris Garrard are certainly not ruled out by any means."
