SATEKI Tuipulotu admitted he is now firing on all cylinders before Saturday's National One showdown with Rotherham after putting a distressing year behind him.

The likeable Tongan had to cope with the death of his mother last year and, after scoring a record 32 points for Worcester Rugby Club at the weekend, revealed the loss had hit him hard.

"Before the Tongan tour of Britain last year, my confidence was very low," he said. "Obviously my family problems, they really did take their toll. People say you just have to get on with life but I think that's a total lie because it does take a toll.

"When you lose someone so precious to you, it has to affect you. It certainly affected my confidence but, after the Tongan tour, I've come back and I feel a lot better."

Tuipulotu showed his best form this season against Henley at Sixways as he claimed a hat-trick of tries, kicked seven conversions and a penalty. However, he was keen to pay tribute to his team-mates and new backs coach Andy Keast.

"It was a real team effort and I've just happened to be on the end of some good work from the boys," he added.

"It's a boost to be in the side which is winning because the lads have really worked hard for the scoreline.

"Andy Keast has come in with new ideas and they've worked. He's done well and the last two weeks have been very good. There is a lot more confidence around the team. We are now more direct and using the ball properly."
