JAN Molby has revealed current loan signing Simon Brown is a potential target for next season's revamp.

Brown, with two goals in five matches for Kidderminster Harriers, could be available again on a temporary basis if West Brom secure Premiership status.

The 20-year-old has fitted superbly into Molby's preferred 4-3-3 formation and plays the final game of his month loan at home to Rochdale on Saturday.

Harriers director of football confirmed he intends to extend the young star's deal to include the final two Division Three fixtures with Torquay and Boston.

And, looking further ahead, he said: "It all depends on how West Brom see him in their plans. But as of yet he has not been promoted to training with the first team though he's played in quite a few reserve games.

"Simon had a bit of a stomach problem on Saturday but it has settled down and he's trained well this week.

"Perhaps there was a little bit of tiredness as he's had a lot of games at a level he's never played at before.

"If he does become available on a season-long loan, I would certainly make sure we were first in the queue."

Molby will be a free agent in the summer along with assistant Gary Barnett and 15 players but emerged from a board meeting on Tuesday confident there would be no problem in staying on at Aggborough.

The Dane is sure of 16th-placed Harriers' future in Division Three as Carlisle are too far behind and York have to win the final three games to catch them after losing again on Tuesday, 2-1 to Yeovil.

He hopes the fight for contracts and the release of relegation pressure will contribute to a better display against third-from-bottom Rochdale following a 0-0 draw at Cambridge United last weekend.

A new deal will be on the table for keeper John Danby, who has impressed since his call-up, but Molby is keeping the other players' futures private for now.

He said: "Our home record of late has been okay. We've produced good performances with some good results. I just hope that will get our players going.

"They have been training a little bit more freely this week and with two-thirds of the team playing for contracts hopefully that will also fire them up.

"I've nothing against Rochdale and I really like their manager Steve Parkin but I want to win this game for our own sake. Another three points would take us over the total for our first Football League season, 53, which would be nice.

"It's going to be difficult though as I saw them play Doncaster and they produced a high energy performance. They did the same against Leyton Orient in a 3-0 win and are very compact playing a 4-5-1 with Grant Holt on his own up front."

Dean Keates had a knee operation this week and will be fit for pre-season, while Abdou Sall serves a suspension at Torquay after his red card in Cambridge.

Molby, who has not extended Ian Foster's loan, also starts a four-match touchline ban in Devon for his dismissal at Southend. The FA fined him £1,500.

He believes young defender Chris McHale will not let the side down if he is required to step in for Sall.

Meanwhile, Harriers are promoting road safety awareness at the Rochdale game as part of the on-going THINK! campaign.

They have supplied schools with 2,500 free tickets for the game.
