AS Stourport signed off with a drab 1-1 draw at Shepshed Dynamo, Swifts' boss Dave Titterton was already considering next season.

And there is a lot of thinking to do on the evidence of this match which the visitors dominated but failed to finish off their un-dynamic hosts.

Titterton said: "We have got to start early next season. We only started after 12 games this season and we need another striker, a creative midfield player and a bit of balance on the left."

But the ex-Coventry man should be congratulated for salvaging a sinking ship with only three-quarters of a season to do it, turning them into an industrious and combative outfit who are difficult to break down.

Titterton continued: "We have got to be realistic. With the budget we have got we are not going to be challenging for the league.

"But we need to be in a top-eight position because we do not know what is going to happen with the feeder leagues," he said of the impending non-league reorganisation.

That could be possible if Titterton can build on a solid rear-guard. marshalled by the ever-green Jan Mulders, and a gritty midfield, the sum total of which nearly defeated Dynamo.

John Shirley put Swifts 1-0 ahead with a splendid dipping 10th-minute effort from 25 yards for his third goal of the season.

And there should have been more had Titterton's strikeforce managed to turn their chances into goals.

In the end they paid the price when Adie Greatrex headed the hosts level 17 minutes from the end, squeezing the ball between keeper Rob Clarke and the near post with their only real effort of the game.
