NEW boss Ian Britton believes Kidderminster Harriers' financial constraints will make it difficult for him to bring in new players for next season.

He is convinced, however, that the current squad will be good enough to make an impact in what he feels will be a year of consolidation for the club

He said: "Bringing in new players will depend on what the budget entails.

"It will be difficult. I think there will be a consolidation over the next year.

"Fortunately a lot of players are already tied up on contracts anyway so we are lucky in that respect."

Chairman Colin Youngjohns believes Harriers' appointment of a lower profile manager following the departure of former Liverpool star Jan Molby will not effect their bid to attract new players if finances allow.

He said: "We have got a network of people we are building up already that are there to assist Ian. His scouting system is already well tried."

Youngjohns, meanwhile, has paid tribute to club captain and assistantcaretaker boss Ian Clarkson who was released earlier this week along with Ben Davies, Peter Faulds and trialist Michael Keegan. Tony Bird had already decided to move on.

Youngjohns said: "Clarkson was an excellent professional and he and Scott Stamps have been the best full-backs in the club's history."

Thirty one year-old former Birmingham City skipper Clarkson said: "As one of the higher earners and oldest players you're always susceptible to something like this. I've been in football 15 years and I know how it works."
