A SECOND chance to have a say in the future of Kempsey is being offered this weekend.

Residents are being invited to the Community Centre tomorrow where there will be a tombola and treasure hunt, together with a display of old photographs and maps.

"It's a chance to get any gripes or complaints off your chest," said Jonathan Campbell, vice chairman of the working party preparing a Kempsey parish plan.

"We want to get a plan together and put some pressure on Malvern Hills District Council to take account of what Kempsey residents are worried about.

"We are hoping to see more youngsters than we did at a previous meeting in the parish hall, to tell us what they think of life in the village and what they need here."

People will be invited to put their comments on a washing line, or into a wishing well and there will be a desk manned by children from the village, to encourage other youngsters to express their views.

Comments received so far have ranged from worries about Kempsey joining up with Worcester to concerns about transport and getting to the doctors' surgery in Upton-upon-Severn.

"Quite a few people like living in Kempsey because of the countryside and wildlife. There is concern about preserving it," said Mr Campbell.

Information gathered from residents will be used to formulate a village questionnaire. "Then it's all hands to the pump to get the parish plan out with almost no budget," said Mr Campbell.

More information about the parish plan and the information gathered can be found on the website www.kempseyparish.co.uk

On Sunday, parishioners will be invited to celebrate the benefits of living in Kempsey with Songs of Praise in St Mary's Church.
