WOLVERHAMPTON'S Wulfrun Hall is playing host to two big name stars - Julian Cope, formerly of top 1970s band Teardrop Explodes, and Hollywood actress and singer Minnie Driver who is on her first solo tour of the United Kingdom

Cope is appearing on Saturday while Driver is at the Wulfrun Hall on Monday, February 7.

Cope's appearance comes in the wake of the long awaited new LP, Citizen Cain'd , released through the singer's own Head Heritage label.

He promises "an evening of full-throttle, maximum darkness and mythological rock 'n' roll, bringing psychedelia firmly into the 21st century."

Cope shot to fame and notoriety with The Teardrop Explodes in the immediate post-punk era of the late 70s.

He has continued to make LPs and produce other performers ever since.

Minnie Driver's gig comes fresh after her stint supporting The Finn Brothers on their sell-out tour and playing at The Free Trade show at Hammersmith alongside such artistes as Razorlight, Jamelia and REM.

Her debut album, Everything I've got In My Pocket , is the realisation of a long-held dream.

She first began singing in London's jazz clubs as a teenager, before joining a band that landed a development deal with Island Records.

Everything I've Got in My Pocket has 10 original songs and an unforgettable cover of Bruce Springsteen's Hungry Heart.

Tickets for Julian Cope's show are £15 while they are £13.50 for Minnie Driver.

Tickets for both can be booked by calling the Midland Box Office on 01902 552121 (lines open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm), or online at www.wolvescivic.co.uk
