POLICE have reconstructed a road accident which left a Honeybourne woman in hospital in a critical condition.

The 49-year-old woman remains at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham after being airlifted from the crash near Saintbury on Friday, January 7.

She had been driving a silver Ford Ka along the B4632 in the direction of Willersey at around 8.10am when the vehicle was in collision with a combination drill being towed by a green John Deere tractor.

As a result of this impact her car was involved in a further collision with a red Nissan Micra.

The tractor driver, a 25-year-old man from Broadway, and the Nissan driver, a 49-year-old from the same village were both unhurt in the collision.

Police hope that the reconstruction on Sunday morning, will give them a clearer picture of what happened during the collision.

"We hired a car similar to the one driven by the woman, to use during our reconstruction of this incident," said Insp Mike Jacka, of Cirencester police.

"We're hoping it will allow us to determine the chain of events that led up to the crash and build a picture of what the injured party would have seen."

Officers are keen to hear from other drivers who may have seen a drill of the type involved in the accident being moved around the Saintbury area.

"Large agricultural drills are a very distinctive sight when seen on the highway," said Insp Jacka.

"We're keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a drill of this type being towed along roads in the Saintbury area in the last few weeks."

Witnesses should contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 0901234.
