Perrywood 5, Littleton 4 (aet)

LITTLETON'S habit of throwing away leads and losing by the odd goal reached epidemic proportions last Saturday.

This was the third successive game it has happened and this time they went one better as they were two goals in front at one stage of the Evesham Hospital Cup tie.

The game was dominated by a referee who dished out cards like confetti and never let the game flow.

Littleton dominated the opening stages but it was the hosts who nearly scored but Wayne Bunn popped up on the line. Adi Pritchard then made a spectacular save to keep out a powerful drive.

At the other end, Simon Brain put the visitors in front after beating two men and driving in from 18 yards.

Pritchard was again called into action to turn aside a close-range volley, but he couldn't prevent Lamin Sanneh equalising from similar distance.

In the second half Littleton pressed hard and took the lead when Tim Beattie headed in a Curtis Major cross on the hour.

The visitors scored again 15 minutes from time when Chris Bate drove the ball into the net after a shot from Paul Jones rebounded off the bar.

Littleton then had a player sent off for a second bookable offence and two goals from Matt Hannant took the game into extra-time.

Littleton took the lead again with Major converting a penalty and they looked comfortable.

However, an own goal brought the scores level again, then a penalty from Dean Spiers put the hosts into the lead for the first time.

Littleton mounted a furious assault, they hit a post, a Brain back header was just wide and another shot was just over.

It wasn't to be however, and the home supporters greeted the final whistle with great joy.
