In the first leg of Banks's Bewdley Darts League Singles Knockout, last year's winner, Rob Jones, of the Rising Sun A, faced the beaten finalists, Sam Cumpton, of the Cock and Magpie and this time Crumpton was the victor.
Crumpton won by two clear games, effectively ending Jones's attempt to retain his title.
There was another fine win by Rising Sun A captain Mick Link, over Bliss Gate captain Tim Green. Link edged into a two-games win, though Green saw two of this darts clip the wire to deny him the double top which would have levelled the match in the second game.
Pete Carter, captain of the Great Western, beat S Watton, of Waggon and Horses A, and Steve Bradbury, captain of Black Boy, stopped D Chamberlain, of the Great Western. County player Matt Sheehan progressed to the next round with Cock and Magpie captain Neil Harrison.
Thirty two players will compete to go through to the last eight.
