STOURPORT men's indoor hockey team are hoping to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

They won three out of four games in the first round of Division One North matches last weekend in Hull.

And they will banish last season's relegation from the top flight if they repeat their form in the final four games in Hull on Sunday.

An added incentive for Phil Lashford and Co is that the Premier League games are played closer to home, at the Glades in Kidderminster.

Stourport seconds beat West Bridgford 4-1 at home in the Second XI Premier Division with goals from Dan Packwood, Ben Everett, Phil Baldwin and David Knott. They visit Birminham University at 2pm on Saturday.

Knott was also on target three times for the club's veterans as they made it through to the last 16 of the over-40s cup with a 6-1 win over Hereford. Imran Sherwani, Steve Taylor and Andy Watson also scored.

The thirds were also successful, winning 5-2 at Shrewsbury in the Third XI Premier Division with goals from Ashley Jones (2), Alex Vale, Ben Kenyon and Andy Cavendish. They host Birmingham Uni at 1pm on Saturday.

There was a 4-0 home win for the sixths over Kings Heath fourths with Jeremy Bailey (2), Dave Shepherd and Mark McKinnon scoring. They play Sutton Coldfield away at noon on Saturday.

Stourport Ladies

In friendlies, Stourport Ladies beat Lichfield 5-3, thanks to two goals each for Kayleigh Hateley and Kate Bailey, and a single strike by Holly Lashford, to extend their unbeaten run.

Teri Baron, Emily McCoy and Lucy Holmes were the heroines for Stourport Ladies thirds as they beat Lichfield 3-1.

The fourths, were far superior to Bloxwich, winning 7-0 thanks to Jenny Penikot (four), Cally Taylor (two) and Kim O'Connor.

Kidderminster

Kidderminster first's pre-Christmas cheer turned to a New Year hangover as they followed their 8-4 victory at Stone with a 4-2 loss to Stratford.

In a brilliant second half display against Stone, top scorer Matt Edwards hit a hat-trick, with Rob Sorrell (two), Neil Jackson, Chris Bortle and Matt Ormarod also scoring.

Despite goals either side of the break by Edwards and Jackson, Kidderminster were unable to stop Stratford from leapfrogging them into second in the West Midlands Premier Division.

They travel to Warwick this weekend.

Kidderminster thirds were 5-1 victors over Pershore with wonderkid Scott Edwards grabbing a hat-trick and Richard Wheeler and Paul Adams also on the mark. They have no game this weekend.

A goal in each half from Marcus Griffiths was not enough to prevent the fourths going down 4-2 at home to Bromsgrove in a Fathoms non-league fixture.

Chaddesley Corbett

Chaddesley avoided a repeat of their 16-0 thrashing at Newtown in the West Midlands division two re-match -- but they did lose 6-4.

Sam Boden scored his first goal for 15 months and Tom Boden hit the first hat-trick of his career.

They visit Stafford at 1pm on Saturday.
