BROMSGROVE CC want to tap into the town's rich vein of goodwill and expertise to help improve the club's St Godwalds ground as part of a national drive.

The club is looking for volunteers and local businesses to lend their enthusiasm and knowledge on April 2 and 3 to help work on the ground as part of the England and Wales Cricket Boards' (ECB) Cricket Force project.

The initiative was developed as part of the ECB's Natwest Volunteer programme, where the sport's governing body are encouraging clubs to undertake major renovations to their ground and clubhouses before the seasons starts.

Chairman Nick Husbands said: "April is the perfect time of the year for the club to improve its facilities.

"It's also the perfect chance to involve businesses and people from the town in the club."

Bromsgrove have set themselves five tasks which are to be completed over the two days, including extending and fencing off the patio by the main pavilion.

The club also want to refurbish the main changing rooms, work on the third team's pavilion, improve the practice nets and building a new scoreboard.

Husbands said: "It's going to be a massive weekend for us and the club's future, we are looking to the goodwill of local businesses to donate materials and equipment for a number of projects that we have identified as our Cricket Force priorities."

If your business can help in any way, or as an individual you would like to get involved please e-mail bromsgrovecc@hotmail.co.uk or call Tracy Husbands on 01527 831844 for details.

The club will elect their captains for 2005 at the annual general meeting on January 24 at St Godwalds (7.30pm start).
