FORMER Bee Richard Kavanagh returned to the hive as Studley rattled in two goals in each half to beat Westfields 4-2.

Kavanagh had been at Halesowen Town and Solihull Borough before being plagued with injuries which has forced him on the sidelines for four months.

Studley manager, Kevin Rowlands said: "He's had a terrible time with injury but he's a quality player and he had a great 45 minutes on Saturday.

"He's got the experience and is good on the ball and the defence looked settled."

But Kavangh might not be the only new face at the Beehive as Rowlands has also put in a seven-day approach for Racing Club Warwick hitman Jermaine Gordon.

The Studley management had crunch talks on Thursday night and Rowlands admitted his side needed strengthening by a couple of players.

He added: "We need to raise the bar all-round really, if you don't put approaches in for players the bottom line is you don't get one.

"We're not pointing the finger at the lads and saying suddenly you're not good enough but we're just bringing in a few new faces because we want to get a good response from the team."

On Saturday Andy Grubb got the Bees off to a quick start after scoring his second goal in as many games on 14 minutes.

Westfields equalised ten minutes later courtesy of Paul Burton.

Scott Walsh gave Studley the half time advantage on 42 minutes before Derek Craddock equalised again ten minutes after the restart.

Kevin Jones made it 3-2 on 65 minutes before Kieran Cross made the game safe with ten minutes to go.

Rowlands added: "It was a good performance and one we've been capable of for a long time."

n Studley's Worcestershire Senior Cup semi final against Bromsgrove Rovers at the Beehive kicks off at 7.45pm on Tuesday, January 25.
