A SEVERELY handicapped youngster looks set to get a special Christmas gift, thanks to generous Leigh Sinton people.
David and Jane Endean, of Leigh Sinton Stores, have been fundraising to get the £500 needed to buy a high-tech mattress for 11-year-old Robert Davison.
A coffee morning they hosted last Thursday raised £400, including £50 from an anonymous benefactor and £100 from Lockshield Property Services. They are also running a raffle.
Robert, from St Johns in Worcester, is quadraplegic and suffers from cerebral palsy, epilepsy and a feeding disorder.
The special mattress will prevent him from getting bed sores due to a build-up of pressure.
"We're really hoping to raise as much as we can to make Robert's Christmas more comfortable," said Mr Endean.
The store will draw the raffle at 4pm today (Christmas Eve). Free mulled wine and mince pies will be served from 3pm to 5pm.
