HUNTS facing a foxhunting ban in February are calling on residents to support traditional 'Boxing Day' meets, which are taking place on Monday.

Four hunts will meet in the Malvern Hills area with 33 meets being held throughout the West Midlands.

North Ledbury Hunt meets at the Pran-cing Pony and Red Lion, Stiffords Bridge, Cradley at 11am and the Ledbury Hunt at the Feathers Hotel, Ledbury at 10.45am.

In Bromyard the Clifton-on-Teme Hunt meets at the Hop Pole Hotel, The Square at 11am, and Wyre Forest Beagles at the Barneby Arms, Bredenbury at noon.

The Leadon Vale Basset Hounds meet at the Lower Lode Hotel, Forthampton, Tewkesbury at 11am and the Croome and West Worcestershire Hunt in Broad Street, Pershore, at 11am.

Announcing the meets, the Countryside Alliance criticised the Government's Hunting Act, which makes foxhunting illegal from February 18.

West Midlands regional director Clare Rowson said: "Local hunts are looking forward to huge support on Boxing Day and showing the Government the unity and passion that exists in the countryside."
