ON the last Sunday of the year and with a two-week break ahead for The Soccer Site Malvern Football League there were more cup games completed, which left only one unclaimed place in the Senior Cup.

This will be resolved when Ganglands and Belmont Keys meet in the new year, with the losing side going into the President's Cup.

The top two teams met in pool A and Bishops Frome came out on top 2-1 when they visited Dynamo Ledbury.

The visitors suffered an early blow when influential midfielder Mark Corbett had to leave the field with an injury. But the match-winning performance of sub Chris Jefferson, who came on and went up front, tempered this blow. The omens did not seem so good for him when, after being bought down in the area, he got up only to put the resultant spot kick wide of the target. But he then made amends with a shot, which was deflected past the keeper to give Frome a 1-0 lead at half-time.

It became 2-0 early in the second half when Chris Jefferson raced through and slotted the ball past the keeper. Dynamo Ledbury, who battled hard all through the game, pulled a goal back when Martin Punt looked up to see the visiting keeper Simon Wall in no man's land and cleverly chipped the ball over him into the unguarded net. But with Dynamo pressing for the equaliser Simon Wall made amends producing several good saves.

Even when he had to leave the field, injured after making a save, to be replaced by outfield player Wayne Hoskins, the Dynamo could not capitalise and Bishops Frome went to the top of the table.

In pool D, Oak Allstars had a comfortable 10-1 victory over Keyz 04 in a game played in good spirit. The man-of-the-match for the home side was James Dean who notched up four goals with a combination of shots and headers. Jamie Gladwin also got a hat-trick with goals from Neil Gardener, Zeck Koral and Lee Clueit making up the total with Keyz 04's goal coming from Rob Kelly.

In pool C, Fromes Hill entertained Talbot Head and it was the visitors who took the points with a 3-0 scoreline. Dave Martin gave Talbot Head the lead early on with a header from a corner and then Danny Briscoe struck twice, both times racing clear of the home defence to give the keeper no chance. Adam Webb almost increased Talbot's lead with a superb shot from 30 yards which crashed against the home cross bar.

Fromes Hill had the opportunity to pull a goal back just before half-time when Ross Sweetman was bought down by visiting keeper Nick Rogers. The keeper made amends when he pulled off a spectacular one-handed diving save to push Ross Sweetman's spot-kick wide.

The second half was much more even with Fromes Hills hitting the bar courtesy of a Stewart Smart free-kick. But even though they had to put striker Danny Briscoe in goal when he suffered a groin strain, Talbot Head held on comfortably to take the points.

In pool D, Cross Keys made it five wins out of five when they visited Perowne Park Rangers and won 6-3. Their goals came from Dale Humphries, two from Rob Cullen and an Ollie Endacott hat-trick. Perowne's goals came from Matt Harris, Lee Barmby and Dan Geisler.
