AMOROUS staff at a Kidderminster snack shop have taken the Christmas theme of goodwill to all men to the extreme by dispensing kisses with their cheese cobs and club sandwiches.

Cammellia Rowe, manager of Charlie G's Baguette Shop in New Road, decided to spice up the daily round of food preparation by offering customers a Christmas kiss under the mistletoe for 50p a go - all in the name of charity, of course.

"The response has been fantastic. Because it is Christmas, everyone has been very generous," said Mrs Rowe, who admitted she was enjoying herself.

"I have been kissing the men and my colleague, Sam Gulliford, has been kissing the female customers," she explained.

"It's fantastic fun. Some men are a bit shy so I just grab hold of them and give them a smacker anyway."

"I am also hoping my prince will come into the shop," joked Mrs Rowe, a divorced mother of two, of Homfray Road.

Of course the real aim of all this amorousness was to raise money for The Leukaemia Research Fund - a favourite charity of the shop ever since owner Cindy Gulliford's 24-year-old son, Charlie, died of the disease three years ago last Saturday.

The baguette shop had been named Charlie G's in memory of Charlie's stage name as a DJ.

Mrs Gulliford said: "We always raise money for this charity because more research into this dreadful disease is needed."

The sum of £500 has already been raised by selling the snogs she said.

That was in addition to £7,000 raised by earlier fund-raising events at the shop.
