POLICE are warning elderly people not to keep large quantities of cash at home after thieves sneaked into the home of a Stourport man in his 90s and stole £400.
The incident, in the Mitton area, happened between 7.15pm on Saturday and 10.15am on Sunday.
The man discovered his belongings had been disturbed on Sunday morning and a blue cash box containing the money was missing.
A spokesman for Kidderminster police said there had been no sign of forced entry but the door, which had been left secure on Saturday, had been discovered unlocked the next morning.
He said: "It is always sad to hear of this type of burglary at the home of a vulnerable, elderly person, especially at Christmas."
He urged people to keep an eye on elderly neighbours and asked anyone with information about the burglary to contact Kidderminster police on 08457 444888.
