RESIDENTS in Worcester are being urged to visit a city pub tonight and get dancing to raise cash for premature babies.

When staff at the Beefeater Three Pears Pub, in Warndon, read about the Evening News Tiny Tots Appeal, they new they wanted to help out.

The appeal was launched on Wednesday, December 1, after Worcestershire Royal Hospital revealed a "wish list" of vital equipment it needs to help save the lives of tiny premature babies born at its neo-natal unit.

Thousands of pounds need to be raised to fund the equipment, which include monitors and alarms that check the babies are breathing.

The neo-natal unit provides emergency care for babies that are born up to 12 weeks premature - many in a critical condition.

Nikki Fox, manager at the Three Pears, enlisted the help of Worcester firm Total Entertainment to arrange an evening of fun at the pub for the appeal.

Alex Kear, of Total Entertainment, said: "After reading about the appeal in the Evening News, we all decided we wanted to organise a fund-raising party to generate lots of money.

"We hope the party will not only prove to be an enjoyable, fun night but will also raise cash for a good cause."

The evening will include a DJ, games and a raffle, and will start at 7pm and finish at 11pm.

"What better way to start the Christmas celebrations?" asked Mr Kear.

The pub is not the only firm to be lending its support to the campaign. Two weeks ago, the Evening News reported how Bushwhackers had raised £1,000 for the appeal, and the Worcester Operatic and Drama Society, as well as its youth section (WODYS), joined together to raise more than £100.

And it's not too late to help. All you need to do is fill in the coupon below and send your donation to the hospital's charitable funds department.

Every single penny raised will go directly to ensuring premature babies have a fighting chance this Christmas.
