MUSIC SOCIETY: At their December meeting, members enjoyed a Christmas concert given by Charles Matthews and his family. Mr Matthews teaches at Birmingham Conservatoire and is organist at St Catherine's Church, Chipping Campden. His wife plays the flute and the recorder and his son sings as a treble.
This was the first time the society has had an organ recital and the programme for the evening provided a pleasant variety with organ solos to include the Tocata and Fugue by Bach and the complete Symphony No 5 for organ by C M Widor, which ends with the piece well known at weddings. Three Christmas songs and the Christmas Pastoral completed the evening.
The next meeting on January 21 is an illustrated talk by Graham Kiteley entitled A Breeze from Alabama. Visitors and guests are welcome. Contact 01608 661808.
