WARM-HEARTED guests of an inn near Worcester are being asked to show some Christmas spirit.

Darren Barson, landlord of the Nightingale in Evesham Road, has adorned his Christmas tree with labels detailing small gifts needed by needy groups in the city.

He is asking customers to pick a label off the "Giving Tree" and then return with that item wrapped on their next visit.

When all items are under the tree, Darren said he will organise for the Salvation Army to collect and distribute them to good causes before Christmas Day.

"To start the collection rolling, we have purchased the first few gifts. And we are confident guests will really get behind the idea," he said.

"The labels detail the names of small items like mince pies, biscuits, Christmas pudding and tinned fruit.

"We have run the idea by some of our customers and they said they said they would be glad to give."
