AS an Alcestrian, I naturally welcome the large amount of taxpayers' money that is to be spent on the Greig Centre.
However, I fear for the future of the Hannah Susan Greig Memorial Hall.
We are told by the trustees that profit from the sports hall will fund an extensive rebuilding and refurbishment of the Greig Hall.
I simply do not believe that such profit will materialise.
One has to doubt the business acumen of a board of trustees which opens a cycle-hire business at the beginning of winter!
I sadly predict that in about three years time the trustees of the Hannah Susan Greig Memorial Hall will be going, once again, cap in hand to the taxpayer.
The £850,000 should be spent on the Greig HALL, not the Greig Centre.
It would seem the promise given to Iain Blaikie, the headteacher of Alcester Grammar School, has already been broken. The promise was that the grammar school would provide the sports facilities and that the Hannah Susan Greig Memorial Hall should provide for the needs of the youth and the community of Alcester.
On the basis of this evidence, we must ask "can the trustees be trusted?"
