INNOVATIVE self-defence school the British Free Fighting Association (BFFA) held an action packed launch of its new DVD, Survive the Streets, on December 16.

Representatives from lads magazine Loaded were just some of the luminaries who attended the official black-tie launch at Tardebigge's Tylers Lock pub.

Members of the media watched the new release on a large plasma screen.

The new release, a follow-up to the Aston Fields based school's 2001 release Without Warning, also attracted interest from Combat and DVD monthly magazines.

Survive the Streets focuses on members of the public defending themselves from attackers in every day places and situations.

It was filmed on the streets of Bromsgrove, the BFFA's headquarters and the Tyler's Lock bar, Tardebigge.

Founder Andy Hopwood said: "It's about simple and effective techniques that will help the ordinary person fend off an attacker.

"We wanted to film the DVD in a variety of normal every day places where trouble might occur," added Mr Hopwood.

"We want people to be able to get out of trouble and make sure they get away safely."

Hopwood, who founded the BFFA six years ago and devised the self defence technique, is now in talks to tie up a distribution deal with Entertainment UK to have Survive the Streets on sale in national supermarket chains such as Tesco.

Survive the Streets is on sale at the BFFA's website, www.bffa.co.uk, and the Fighting Fit store in Aston Fields.
