A POPULAR teenager from a Bromsgrove school is in a serious condition in hospital after being knocked down shortly after getting off a bus.
Andrew Perrygrove, a year nine pupil at South Bromsgrove High School, was in collision with a white Ford Transit van on Tuesday, December 14.
Fourteen-year-old Andrew, who lives in Alvechurch, suffered serious injuries after the accident on the Birmingham Road, near to the junction with Rectory Road, in Alvechurch, at about 4.20pm.
Andrew used the school bus to get home but was knocked down when trying to cross the road after he got off at his stop.
He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, before being transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where he is in a critical condition.
South Bromsgrove headmaster Phil McTague said: "He is a popular lad. Our thoughts are with him, his friends and family. We wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery."
The accident was witnessed by a number of friends and fellow pupils who were on the bus when Andrew got off. They are now being offered counselling.
