Droitwich Spa 10 Ledbury 7

DROITWICH'S relegation battle took another twist after Saturday's relegation battle was abandoned with just minutes to go.

Spa had been leading 10-7 with the game nearly over when the referee stopped it after sustaining concussion.

Now Droitwich are waiting to hear from league officials on whether they will be awarded maximum points, or will have to play the game over again.

If they play again and lose it would be a blow to luckless Droitwich, who have already had two points deducted this season when they were so close to a vital victory in the Midlands Three West (South).

Droitwich had recovered from a disastrous start, going down to an early try.

Jamie Faulkener lead Spa's line and he outpaced Ledbury's defence to score beneath the posts.

Andy Gallageher then converted the try.

Gallagher then kicked over a penalty to hand Droitwich a 10-7 lead. by half time.

In a tense second half neither side was able to find a way through.

Spa's opponents came closest to scoring, when a penalty came off the bar.

But the game was called off seven minutes from the end after Craig Burgess' accidentally kicked the ball in the referees head.
