WHILE the Christmas celebrations are in full swing, emergency workers for Transco, which transports gas to 20 million homes and businesses, will be working around the clock.
"Safety is our main priority and our emergency teams will be available during the Christmas and New Year period to respond to any reports of gas escapes, inside homes and businesses or outside in the street," said Transco emergency manager Darrell Morris.
Anyone who smells gas should call the gas emergency service on 0800 111999.
The service is free of charge and is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, even Christmas Day.
